Up until now, Microsoft have kept a tight lid on details surrounding the story of Gears of War 4, but a new trailer gives us a short, yet insightful hint at how it all starts for the game's main protagonist, JD Fenix.
The very first story-related trailer for Gears of War 4, titled Tomorrow, links JD's legacy to his father, Marcus Fenix, and shows some of the game's cinematic cut scenes that paint a very clear and gloomy picture of what lies ahead. It almost feels like Déjà vu in comparison to the first Gears of War.
Microsoft sum it up in a few sentences:
At the conclusion of Gears of War 3, Marcus Fenix wondered what tomorrow would bring. What a world without war would look like. This is the story of two tomorrows - the one Marcus envisioned, and the one 25 years later, where all hope is shattered as a new nightmare is reborn.
The trailer also features Disturbed's cover version of Simon and Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence, which sets the mood appropriately.
Gears of War 4, launching October 11 exclusively on Xbox One, marks the first chapter of an all-new Gears saga being developed by Vancouver's The Coalition. Check out the cover artwork and make sure to sign up for the multiplayer beta when it starts on April 18.
