Starting today (April 12), players will be able to sink their teeth into new content in Destiny: The Taken King. Check out the new trailer above.

As ever, loot is at the heart of Destiny and those that have maxed their light level will be pleased to know the ceiling has been raised to 335, so the hunt for better gear can begin anew.

How you go about gaining high level gear is an important feature of the update since you'll be awarded max-level equipment doing any end-game content rather than just raids. Nightfalls, Crucible, Trials of Osiris and more will now award gear with light level 335.

To further flesh out the game, the update is adding a new strike called Blighted Chalice, which pits players against a new pretender for the Taken King's throne. Bungie has also updated an old favourite strike: Winters Run, adding a new boss and enemies.

As well as the strikes there are also new bounties, quests and a whole new story mission.

The Prison of Elders has some new features too: a new challenge mode with eight new bosses and a Taken mode where the standard enemies are replaced with their Taken counterparts. To further up the challenge players can compete in the Prison with different modifiers. Completing a run with each different modifier unlocks better rewards.

Destiny: The Taken King's gear is going a bit Need for Speed. The new chroma feature looks like LED strip lighting for your armour and guns and comes in a range of colours to further customize your look. There's Taken armour sets too so you can look like ghostly alien, if you really want to.
