The memorial service for the late Motörhead founder and frontman Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister will be held this coming Saturday, January 9 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park -- located at 6300 Forest Lawn Dr. in Los Angeles -- beginning at 2:30 PM PST and ending at 4:30 PM PST. The memorial will be broadcast live for everyone to take part in remembering Lemmy. You can tune in right here on Metaleater by watching the space above for the live broadcast.
"We want you ALL to be a part of this memorial service," the band state. "So wherever you are, PLEASE get together and watch with fellow Motörheadbangers and friends. Go to your favorite bar, or your favorite club. Make sure they have access to an Internet connection and toast along with us. Or simply invite your pals around and celebrate Lemm's life at home. Whatever your venue, and however you can, let's be sure to gather globally on Saturday (January 9) and celebrate the life of our dear friend and irreplaceable icon."
Anyone who would like to send flowers, please contact Karen Brando at Flowers By Michael by calling (310) 276-1003. If you wish, you can make a charitable donation under Lemmy's name through the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.
Lemmy had just celebrated his 70th birthday on Christmas Eve (December 24), and not two days later, on December 26, he found out that he had an aggressive form of cancer that was deemed terminal by his doctors. He then passed away two days later on December 28.
