You know the saying "often imitated but never duplicated." Among the many singers that have been a part of the heavy music scene, only a select few of them have been able share the same DNA as Udo Dirkschneider. His powerful, screaming voice is the epitome of Heavy Metal, and he has put it to good use for over four decades. Fans can never forget the man who fronted Accept -- one of the most successful and respected German Heavy Metal bands of all time -- and though Dirkschneider has usually included hits like Balls to the Wall and Metal Heart in live U.D.O. shows, there has always been a demand for more. Alas, good things come to those who wait.

Die-hards have been treated to a special gift from Dirkschneider and company. For the past eight months or so, U.D.O. has been touring extensively under the moniker "Dirkschneider." The mission: to perform ONLY Accept songs one last time before that chapter in Dirkschneider's career is laid to rest... permanently. The tour has been such a triumph that this fresh new live album, titled Live - Back to the Roots, was put together for fans who want to truly experience classic Accept in the way it should be. Live - Back to the Roots -- recorded live recorded live on April 2, 2016 at Kaminwerk in Memmingen, Germany -- is a hearty meal fit for a king, and showcases the best Udo and his compadres have to offer in paying homage to the legacy of Accept.

The two-disc set features an all-out assault of timeless Accept classics -- Restless and Wild, Fast As a Shark, Balls to the Wall, Flash Rockin' Man, London Leatherboys, Metal Heart, Midnight Mover, Losers and Winners just to name a few -- and it's like the good old days are back. Dirkschneider and his boys perform each song extremely well, making you feel like you've taken a trip back in time to a stage somewhere back in 1986! Dirkschneider -- who is 64 years young -- sounds like his voice is immortally intact with no signs of decline whatsoever. Axemen Andrey Smirnov and Kasperi Heikkinen execute riffs and solos to the T, while Fitty Weinhold lays down the bass lines in stride. Then there is Sven Dirkschneider -- Udo's 22 year-old son -- who mans the drum kit like he has been in the lineup for 20-plus years. Excellent performances from the entire band and fantastic sound quality make this a pure joy to listen to.

The Dirkschneider tour will be sweeping across the United States and Canada for a month-long run between January 5 and February 4, 2017, so if you want to witness Herr Udo Dirkschneider singing Accept tunes one last time, you had better get yourself a ticket. Thankfully, when it's all said and done, fans everywhere will always have Live - Back to the Roots to fall back on and relive the excitement. This is a must-have for any fan, so go out and buy yourself (or someone you love) an early Christmas present for a rockin' good time. Then simply rinse and repeat.
