20th Century Fox have released the first full-length action-packed trailer for the upcoming X-Men flick, X-men: Apocalypse, starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence.

In the trailer, we see the mutants go up against their most powerful adversary yet -- named Apocalypse -- in an intense struggle to ward off the complete and total extinction of planet earth and all mankind.

Here is the official synopsis:

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel's X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.

Back in the director's chair is Bryan Singer, who helmed the first two X-men flicks, along with X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The film's cast also includes Oscar Isaac, Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Olivia Munn, Lucas Till, Josh Helman, Evan Peters, Alexandra Shipp, Lana Condor, Ben Hardy, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

X-men: Apocalypse lands in theaters on May 27.
