Today, Disney and LucasFilm released the first teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the new stand-alone movie set before the events of Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope.
Felicity Jones stars as Jyn Erso, a new female Han Solo-like character that has the spirit of a rebel and the heart of a warrior. With her tough-as-nails persona, she obviously has no problem engaging the Empire head on. Impressed by her, the Rebel alliance puts her together with a group of rebel fighters commissioned with gathering information on a new weapon -- the Death Star -- which appears to be almost fully operational in some of the scenes.
In the trailer we see stormtroopers vs. rebels in an all-out war filled with lasers, gunfire, and plenty of explosions. Oh, and there's an army of AT-ATs too.
That cast also includes Mads Mikkelsen, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, Alistair Petrie, Alan Tudyk, Genevieve O'Reilly, Jonathan Aris and Donnie Yen.
We'll see what director Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) has in store for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story when it's released in theaters on December 16.
