Disney has confirmed that a sequel to the 2013 animated feature film Frozen is officially in the works.
The announcement was made this morning (Thursday, March 12) during the company's annual shareholders meeting in San Francisco. On hand were Bob Iger, Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, and actor Josh Gad (the voice of the wacky snowman Olaf).
Frozen 2 will be developed at Walt Disney Animation Studios once again with directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, along with producer Peter Del Vecho.
No further details regarding production or an official release date have been announced as of yet.
Frozen won the Oscar for best animated feature at last year's Academy Awards. It earned close to $1.3 billion at the box office, and has since become a goldmine with its various merchandise.
