The results are in and the scribes of METALEATER have cast judgment upon this year's best and worst, along with relaying our highest expectations for 2006.

[August 25, 2005] Into The Pit
I can clearly recall almost 20 years ago, as if it was yesterday, attending shows at a small bar across town called Crocks-N-Rolls. A restaurant by day, Crocks was a popular stop along Lake Superior's North shore for many metal and punk acts including RAZOR, DAYGLO ABORTIONS, ANNIHILATOR, NAPALM DEATH, BUNCHOFFUCKINGGOOFS, NINE POUND HAMMER to name just a few.

[August 20, 2005] Get Over It!
One of the "perks" of being involved with a metal magazine such as METALEATER is the ability to contact people/bands who you are personally a fan of. Sure, you can e-mail a band member via their website and sometimes you even get a reply, but who's really replying to you?

[July 16, 2005] NEVERMORE - Special CD Release Party
On Saturday, July 16, 2005, Studio Seven in Seattle, WA was the place to be if you're a NEVERMORE fan. Hosted by KISW 99.9 FM's Metal Shop, hometown metal heroes NEVERMORE held a special CD release party for their brand new album, "This Godless Endeavor".

[July 14, 2005] SKYCLAD
MANOWAR released their first (and many would say best) four albums in a three year span (1982-84); nowadays, fans are lucky to get a new album every four years. There was one band, however, that took the 90s by its horns, but unfortunately arrived when metal was already uncool. Had SKYCLAD emerged a decade earlier, everyone would be talking about them today.

[May 19, 2005] PRIMAL FEAR - Primed In Vancouver
From the metal-engine capital of Europe come hard-hitting German power metal sensations PRIMAL FEAR - to Canada, that is. The band wrapped up studio work in Stuttgart with Charlie Bauerfeind (BLIND GUARDIAN, HAMMERFALL) in the first week of May, where they recorded twelve tracks for their brand new forthcoming album. 90% of these tracks were basically cast in iron, with the remaining 10% to be completed with Mike Fraser in Canada.

[April 11, 2005] SINERGY - From Inception To Suicide
In 2005, many bands will release their overdue follow-ups to past successes. DEMONS & WIZARDS will strike back with their next album, BRUCE DICKINSON is slated to release his answer to 1998's "The Chemical Wedding", and SUMMONING will return to ensure that the "Album of the Year" race is a photo finish. But for me personally, the most anticipated disc of 2005 is SINERGY's follow-up to "Suicide By My Side". The band hope to release their fourth full-length, "Sins Of The Past", before the end of the year, so there's no better time to kickstart the hype machine and reflect back on SINERGY's past sins and triumphs, right here on METALEATER.

[March 22, 2005] STRAPPING YOUNG LAD - Vancouver In-store
Century Media recording artists STRAPPING YOUNG LAD have just unleashed their latest method of madness to the eagerly-awaiting metal-hungry public. The band's brand new album, "Alien", has landed, and if early observations made by the metal media are any indication, the Vancouver-based quartet are poised to break new ground in 2005 and create a major shift in the direction of extreme music as we know it.
